The project \"Border Region of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina \u2013 History, Population, and Migrations\" (POHIB) is an initiative of the Institute for Migration Research, funded by the European Union \u2013 NextGenerationEU as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. It will be conducted from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027.

Brief Outline<\/h2>\n

Croatia shares the longest border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The border area between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia is a zone of contact between two cultures and historically, two civilizations. The project will focus on researching the history of migration in this area from the 19th century to the present day, the connections (kinship, religious, cultural, etc.) between the two territories, the cultural characteristics of both zones, the daily lives of people in both countries, and the positions of minorities (religious and national) in the border zones of both states.

Through research in archives, libraries, museums, and analysis of available media content on the history, culture, and heritage of the region, the project team will gather information on the research status of the topics to be covered over the course of 48 months. Field research will be conducted, focusing specifically on each individual border canton or municipality and border county.

Through collaboration with local authorities, cultural associations, religious organizations, local media, and minority organizations, the history, heritage, and culture of the border zones will be explored, with part of the research oriented towards cultural memory and the current state of cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity in the border area.

The project aims to draw experiences from the border populations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia to provide examples and recommendations for other border regions in Southeast Europe. It also offers guidelines for creating peace, protecting the rights of national minorities and human rights, and promoting cooperation between border communities in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. \n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n
